LILLIAN TORRIE
Posted: March 28th, 2025 1935 ~ LILLIAN TORRIE ~ 2025 Lillian Torrie (nee Ash) passed away in Medicine Hat, Alberta, on March 19, 2025, at the age of 89 years. She is survived by her three children, Elaine Torrie, Doug (Anne) Torrie, and Brenda Smith. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Michael (Laura) Fitzhenry, Kevin (Darci) Fitzhenry, Logan (Milissa) Torrie, Lindsey (Clinton) Smith, Sydney (Taylor) Nixon, and Howie (Michelle) Switzer, as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Stewart; her parents, Doug and Bea Ash, and her brother, Stewart Ash. Lil’s greatest passion in life was music. She started singing as a small child and continued throughout her life. She performed with several Medicine Hat groups including the Shandelles, the Fifth Avenue United Church choir, Medicine Hat Musical Theatre, the Adele Armstong singers, the Veiner Centre chorus, and the Chinook Village chorus. At parties, she was always ready to strike up a song along with her many friends. More recently, Lil joined a local writers’ club and published a book of her poetry. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice. I was part of a number of MHMT shows over the years and the one word that always comes to mind with Lillian is class. She was an old soul with a touch of fun that would show in her eyes. So very sorry she has slipped away from you everyday but keep her in your heart and she will always be with you.
