MARLENE GARTLY 1945 ~ 2025 It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marlene Gartly of Redcliff, beloved wife of Dale Gartly, announce her peaceful passing on April 23, 2025, at the age of 79 years.
Marlene was born in Medicine Hat on December 16, 1945. She had a love for nature and could often be found tending her garden and yard. She cherished all dogs and loved taking them for walks, she enjoyed reading a good book, and spent many hours doing crossword puzzles and crocheting blankets. Marlene was also a frequent visitor to the Redcliff Library, where she found joy and connection within her community.
Marlene is survived by her loving husband Dale, and her four children: Lana Sackman, Allan Gartly (Natashia), Neil Gartly (Deandra), and David Gartly (Stephanie). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Shane Sackman (Racquel) and Jason Sackman (Yanina), great-grandchildren Jaxon Sackman and Emily Sackman and bonus grandchildren; Jadeyn Dubourt, Novalee Newton and Ellyette Newton.
Marlene is also survived by her sister, Alice Mehlhaff as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Ottelea Wahl, and siblings Jacob, Robert, Alvin, Norman, Norma and Joyce; and her son-in-law, Stan Sackman.
Family and friends are invited to her Graveside Service at Redcliff Cemetery on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Dave Townsend officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Redcliff Legion.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene’s memory may be made to the Redcliff Library or the Medicine Hat SPCA.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre, Medicine Hat Hospital ER, 5 East and the Palliative Team for their compassionate care.
