CHARLENE OSTER 1951 ~ 2025

Margaret Charlene Oster passed away peacefully at 73 years of age with her husband, daughters and brother by her side.

Charlene’s legacy continues on with her family, including her husband of 52 years, Richard, and their daughters: Janine (Doug) Bide and their children Riley, Brianna, and Parker; Amber (Josh) Remillard and their children Maelle, Vienne and Yves.  She is also survived by two brothers, Perry (Sheilagh) Nelson and Daryl Nelson.  She is reunited in passing with her parents, Audrey and Sam Nelson, and her brother, Garry Nelson.

Charlene was born in Leader, Saskatchewan, and moved to Medicine Hat with her family in 1967.  It was there that she met the boy across the street and her high school sweetheart, Richard.  Charlene graduated as a registered nurse and worked in the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital until she left nursing to be a stay-at-home mom.  Charlene was a dedicated mom and heart of the home. When they were young, she volunteered at the girls’ school, and as they grew, organized the many family adventures including travels in the motorhome.  Prior to moving to the acreage, Charlene was an avid gardener who created a beautiful oasis in her yard.  It was a pastime that she shared with her parents who spent many hours alongside her tending to the flower gardens.  Charlene and Richard spent many years as Snowbirds in Arizona where they enjoyed golfing and Happy Hours with their friends.  She delighted in the adventures of her grandkids and loved to surprise them with fun gifts.  When they moved to the acreage, Charlene spent many hours relaxing on the patio with a book, watching the wildlife.

A special thank you to Charlene’s Cardiologist, Dr. Nanette Alvarez, who guided Charlene through her health journey for the last 30 years.  The family would also like to thank Dr. Zeeshan and the nurses on 4th West at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for providing exceptional care in the last week of Charlene’s life.

A celebration of her life will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE, on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant David Townsend officiating.  The service will be live streamed.  Those who wish to attend virtually, please visit Charlene’s obituary page on our website, for the link.   Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.   Those who wish to remember Charlene with a donation may do so to the Medicine Hat and District Health Foundation (cheques made payable to MH&D Health Foundation) 666 5th Street SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 4H6 or online at www.InYourCommunity.ca.   To leave a message of condolence you may visit www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
