SHIRLEY RIEGER

1941- SHIRLEY RIEGER – 2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Betty Rieger, a beloved sister, cousin, aunt and friend to many who will miss her dearly.
Shirley was born to Bill and Mary Schneider in the Bashaw area where she lived within the farming community and received her early education. In 1956, she moved with her family to Redcliff. It is there she met her husband, Ken Rieger, and they were married June 1, 1973. Shirley will be remembered for her love to laugh, joke, and her strong work ethic. Friends may remember her for her work at Rose’s Solo Store and Dominion Glass in Redcliff, Nutone Cleaners, or for her 20+ year career at South Country Village in Medicine Hat. More recently, Shirley was as a volunteer “guest room rental lady” at The Courtyards condominiums.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret Brackenbury; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Ken Rieger; and her other siblings and their spouses.
Shirley’s family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Aziz, the medical staff on 4 West at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, as well as Sherri from Home Care services for their care and compassion.
A private graveside service will take place at the family plot at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. A Come and Go Tea will be held from 2:00 pm 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Saamis Creekside Centre, 11 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB for those wishing to Celebrate Shirley’s life in a time of fellowship.
