CAROLE MEIDINGER

January 6, 1946 ~ December 7, 2025

It is with heavy hearts her family announces the passing of Carole Meidinger, beloved wife of the late Calvin Meidinger, on December 7, 2025, at the age of 79 years.  Along with Calvin, Carole was predeceased by her parents, Laura and Nick Massini; brother, Garry Massini; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dan and Marge Meidinger; sister-in-law, Fern Southward and brother-in-law, Glen Meidinger. Carole will be deeply missed by her sons, Russ Meidinger and Darren Meidinger (Tobi Deering); grandchildren, Mikayla Meidinger and Joshua Meidinger; brother, Mel Massini as well as numerous nieces, nephews and treasured friends.

Carole was born and raised in Medicine Hat, graduating from McCoy High School in 1964.  She married the love of her life, Cal, on April 16, 1966, and they started their adventure together by relocating to Wagner, AB, shortly after their wedding.  Cal’s occupational opportunities subsequently took them to Whitehorse, YK; Leduc, AB and Whitecourt, AB, before returning to Medicine Hat in 1975.  Carole and Cal raised their young family ‘back home’ in Medicine Hat, a labour of love that Carole would finish single-handedly following Cal’s passing in 1983.

Having successfully raised her boys, Carole courageously returned to school in 1992 to pursue a career as a nurse.  She graduated with a Diploma in Nursing from Medicine Hat College in 1994, and this new chapter took her to Prince George and Swift Current, before returning to Medicine Hat in 1998.  She retired from nursing in 2007.

Carole was an avid baseball fan, having played fastball herself in her teen years.  She loved watching her Jays play and rarely missed a game.  Carole was a talented baker and cook as she loved hosting family and friends at her dining table.  When not in the kitchen, she could often be found puttering in her yard or emersed in a good book.

In all her roles – wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, nurse, friend – Carole was kind and compassionate.  She put others at ease and warmed any room with her smile.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Carole’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jaster officiating.
