DOREEN MACKINNON January 15, 1932 ~ December 14, 2025
The family of Doreen MacKinnon, beloved wife of the late Charlie MacKinnon, announce her passing in Medicine Hat on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the age of 93 years. Doreen’s memory will live on through her two sons and their families: son, Darrell (Nadine) MacKinnon and grandchildren: Jereme (Dominique) Brady, Whitney (Scott); great-grandchildren: Zoe, Oliver, Mathew and Sophie; son, Shawn (Melissa) MacKinnon and grandchildren: Cole (Kirsten) and Kayla (Justin) as well as great-granddaughter, Amelia. Doreen is also survived by one brother, Erwin Becker as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with Charlie, she was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Louise Becker; four brothers, Emil, Ray, Sam and Walter as well as two sisters, Rose and Hilda. Doreen was born on January 15, 1932, in Burstall, Saskatchewan. On June 3, 1955, she married Charles MacKinnon in Medicine Hat. Together, they built a life rooted in family and community. Doreen worked for many years with the F.W. Woolworth Company (later Woolco) where she was known in the office for her diligence and reliability. She was a committed member of the Ladies Order of The Moose and took great pride in her involvement. She was also a devoted Tiger hockey fan and rarely missed a chance to cheer on her team. In quieter moments, Doreen found joy in crocheting and lovingly shared her handmade creations with family and friends, each piece a reflection of her warmth and generosity. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. A Private Graveside Celebration of Doreen’s life will be held at Hillside Cemetery with Pastor Murray Jaster officiating.
