With love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Elmer Edwin Lang, on December 30, 2025, at the age of 89 years. Elmer was born at the family farm in Burstall, Saskatchewan. From those early days, he carried values rooted in family, hard work, and quiet resilience that shaped the many chapters of his life.
Elmer loved fishing, camping, and especially gardening, at times tending three garden plots with passion and winning the biggest pumpkin contest three years in a row. Always generous, he shared the fruits of his labour with friends and family. From the pyramids of Egypt to the Great Wall of China, and many trips and experiences in between, he loved travelling the world alongside his wife Shirley, and often with family and friends. After retiring, they spent winters in Mexico and Arizona in their motorhome. Throughout his travels, he enjoyed meeting new people and making friends along the way. His stories and memories of these journeys were shared and always enjoyed by those listening. Elmer was known for his infectious sense of humour and his love of teasing those closest to him. Always open to a visit over coffee and dessert, he shared countless moments filled with laughter, warmth, and connection, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Time spent with family, whether travelling, visiting, or simply being together, mattered most to him. Elmer is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Shirley; his children Lois (Pete) Falkenberg, and Alan (Cheryl) Lang; his sister Evelyn Blosha; his many brothers-and-sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews; and his grandchildren, Dallas (Darren) Wagner, Chad (Kimberly) Falkenberg, Joel (Sarah) Falkenberg, Matt Lang, Isabel Lang, Jamie (Justin) Steinley, Brenden Wagner, and Tiana Lang. He was a proud great-grandfather to ten and was looking forward to welcoming another great-grandchild in June. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Mary; his brother Alvin; his sister Florence Ellefson; his son Keith; and his daughter-in-law patty.
Elmer was a man who was respected and admired by many, from family and friends to those on work sites. He will be deeply missed. We hope to see him in the moments he would have cherished so we can be reminded of his joy, his laughter, and the love he shared with us all.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at River Ridge for the companionate care and support provided to Elmer.
The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend officiating.
