LILLIAN SCHAFER 1940 ~ 2026 Lillian “Lil” Margery Schafer of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Benedict “Ben” Schafer, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the age of 85 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Terry (Bill) Fitterer, Sandra (Mark) Crane; three grandchildren, Shane Fitterer (Kaylea), Bailey (Tyson Zabel), Ashton (Bryden) Lutz; four great grandchildren, who she loved very much, Branko Matulin, Sebastian Matulin, Ozymandias Zabel, and Linden Lutz. Lillian is predeceased by her husband, Ben Schafer; her parents, Wilbert and Eva Jacober, and her sister, Jeanette. Lil worked in the dry-cleaning business for several years, she also had a second-hand clothing store. Lil loved being with her grand children, they were the sparkle in her eye. The celebration of Lillian’s life will take place in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant Pat Grisonich officiating. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the service. The service will be live streamed.
