EDITH BURNISTON 1925 ~ 2026

Edith Mary Burniston, beloved wife of the late Lawrence “Larry” Burniston, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the age of 100 years. She leaves to cherish her memory; four children, Gladys (Ed) Winder, Mary Meier, Richard (Debbie) Burniston, and Loreen Burniston; three grandchildren, Bev (Barry) Gutfriend, Larry (Danielle Reckseidler) Winder, and Bryan (Ashley) Litton; twelve great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren, and two great great great grandchildren. Edith is predeceased by one son-in-law, Wayne Meier; two grand children, Peggy Carnegie (Meier), and Brent Meier; one great great grandchild, Ocean Oldford; one brother, John Gustafson, and one sister, Vera Holmes.  Edith was born August 1, 1925, to Seth and Pheobe Gustafson in Medicine Hat. She lived in Medicine Hat for most of her life aside from the four years she lived in England during WWII. Edith worked at the glass factory, Sunnyside Haven, and for the City of Medicine Hat daycare. She liked to stay active in her yard, tending to her garden and flowers. Edith also enjoyed the gym and continued working out in her chair for as long as she could. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with LifeCelebrant David Townsend officiating.
