Lillian Ruth Irene Krause of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Oswald (“Ossie”) Krause, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the age of 95 years. Lillian was born in Beverley, SK, on October 10, 1930. Lillian’s mother, Ethel, being too busy with three boys and a newborn at home, had her husband, Arthur, and her mother drive to Regina to register the new baby named Irene. Upon arriving home, her mother informed her that she’d changed the baby’s name to Lillian Ruth Irene. When an aunt came out to visit the baby, she commented on how small she was and said (in her accented English), “Isn’t she a tip of a thing”, thus the nickname ‘Tippy’ came about, and that’s how the family referred to Lillian from that day forward. The family moved to the farm outside of Beverley where Lillian, as the oldest daughter of nine children, helped raise her five younger siblings. The family was very musical, and Lillian played many different instruments by ear. After completing school, Lillian moved to Medicine Hat to work as a nurse’s aid at the old hospital. Mom loved spending her early days curling, fishing, playing canasta with her lady friends and working at the farm with her husband. Mom also loved the babies and was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, and her first great-great-grandchild, born 10 days prior to her passing. How she would have loved to have snuggled that little one. Lillian is survived by her children, Louise (Glenn) Deering and their children, Denise Deering and Derek Deering (Carlene; Elias and Aiden), Deborah Telke and her children, Kimberley Gould (Allen; Delilah), Devon Patience (Chad; Emma and Ethan), Jeneal Vargo (Matt; William and Alexandria), Owen (Leanne) Telke and their children, Ryan Telke (Tanya; Daquotah Gleisner (Aiden; Tatum), Quin-Tanah Telke (Brady Lee), Treyden Telke and Bree Telke), Kaitlin Hall (Justin; Adiana and Ava), Kyle Telke (Kathleen), Brian Telke’s daughter Teresa Pye (Travis; Brantley). Lillian is also survived by her three step children, Brenda Chapman and her children Jocelynn Heintz (Davin; Aiva and Aubrey), Janessa Humphreys (Ryan; Kylynn and Emery), Brian (Pam) Krause and Sherri (Burt) Skuban and their children, Chris (Kait), Sheldon (Crystal; Gordon and Linda). Also survived by sisters, Verla Birch and Beverly Vorra, brother Jimmy Harden and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and five brothers, she is predeceased by her husband Ossie, sons Keith Telke and Brian Telke; and son-in-law, Donald Chapman. Lillian spent the last five years at Masterpiece and was much loved by all the staff in LTC. The family would like to thank them for their love and dedication to their ‘Lilybug’ over this time.
