Posted: April 11th, 2026 MARLENE INGENTHRON 1943 ~ 2026
Marlene Marjorie Ingenthron of Medicine Hat, Alberta, beloved wife of the late Kenneth Charles Ingenthron, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at the age of 82, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Lynda (Jim), Barry, and Brian (Andy); her grandchildren, Christopher Krushel (Cassie), Kirsten Krushel, Jillian Ingenthron and Nathan Ingenthron; her great grandchildren, Peyton, Karly, Colt and Cavery; her brothers-in-law, Bill and Ron; her brothers, Ron and Vern, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Ken and her parents, Jack and Edith Gebhardt.
Marlene was born in Medicine Hat on July 28, 1943, and graduated from Medicine Hat High School. Highlights of her younger years were participating in Majorettes and meeting Ken.
She lived a life defined by deep love, incredible adventures, and a passion for creativity.
Marlene’s greatest adventure began on August 3, 1963, when she married Ken. That same year, the newlyweds packed up and moved north to Yellowknife. It was there that they began a lifetime of adventures together and built a circle of lifelong friends.
In 1974, Marlene and her family relocated to Medicine Hat, which became their long-term home. She dedicated 29 years of her life to serving the community through her work at the Medicine Hat Police Service, where she was a valued colleague and friend.
Upon retirement, Marlene and Ken chased the sun, spending 17 wonderful winters in Mesa, Arizona. There, she found another incredible community of friends and discovered a deep love for making ceramics.
Marlene and Ken went on countless cruises and vacations, successfully achieving the rare and proud feat of visiting every single province and territory in Canada. When she wasn’t traveling, Marlene created beautiful jewelry which she sold at markets and gave as keepsakes for those she loved.
Special thank you to all the staff at St. Joseph’s Home-Carmel Hospice for the care and compassion she received in her final months and to all the friends who would visit or call to offer support and encouragement.
The memorial service will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE, on Friday, April 17, 2026, with Life Celebrant, David Townsend officiating.
