Shaun William Vanee August 1, 1997 -June 11, 2026 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear son, brother, and uncle, Shaun William Vanee, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in Kelowna, BC.
Shaun was born on August 1, 1997, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, very prematurely at 24 weeks gestation. He spent a few months in the NICU there, and then a few weeks at the NICU at Chinook Regional Hospital, before coming home on November 3, 1997.
He grew up in Fort Macleod, spending lots of time with his many cousins and friends. He had an interest in farming and spent lots of time working at his uncle’s farms, and loved driving farm equipment before getting his commercial driver’s license and hauling cattle, grain, hay and gravel. He also spent a few summers on a harvest crew with Van Driesten Harvesting, which he really enjoyed. He spent the last five years in BC, in the Cranbrook area, and more recently in Kelowna.
Shaun will be remembered for his work ethic, his natural ability with driving equipment and trucks, his love for family and farming, his kind and generous nature and sense of humor, his love for sports, how quickly he made friends, and his interest in, and love for his nieces and nephews. He made many special friends everywhere he was and had some very special relationships with cousins and family.
Shaun is survived by his parents, Ray and Ria Vanee, brothers and sisters: Sue and Reuben Middelkoop (Ryan, Kayley, Carter, Jennae and Ty), Tammy and Lyndon Van Buuren (Maddy and Lexi), John and Candice Vanee (Brooklynn and Cohen), Darren and Marlies Vanee (Jack, Kate, Liv, and Noa), his Oma, Matty Vanee, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am, on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Bethel Free Reformed Church of Monarch, Alberta, with Pastor Jeff Overduin officiating.
Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall at the church immediately following the service.
Interment will be held for family and by invitation only at the Union Cemetery in Fort Macleod at a later date.
