FRANK HAVILL 1939 – 2026
The family of Frank Havill are saddened to announce his passing in Innisfail, AB, surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the age of 86 years. Frank was born in Edgewood, BC, and relocated with his family to southern Ontario in 1942. He was raised on a farm near Drayton, ON, and left home in September 1954. Frank worked at various farms near Drayton and mostly stayed with George and Jean Bates. In March of 1957, he hitchhiked out west where he spent his remaining years. While working for Trans Canada Pipelines in Regina, SK, Frank met his loving wife and best friend, Florence Toews, on August 2, 1958, on a blind date. They were married on July 11, 1959, in Moose Jaw, SK. Frank worked on the pipeline at various locations for over 21 years: Regina, Moose Jaw, Kenora, and Mattice, ON. In 1978, Frank and Florence bought a Dairy Queen franchise in Medicine Hat, AB, and operated it for 22 years. They sold the DQ in 2000, and bought an M & M Meat Shop franchise in Medicine Hat in 2002. They retired in 2006, and after 32 years in Medicine Hat, they relocated to Innisfail, AB, in 2010, to be closer to family. Frank was an avid fan of his 3 favourite sports teams: the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Blue Jays. He was also an avid bridge player, and countless friendships were formed at the card table. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Florence; his daughters, Lorraine Ingham of Calgary and Christine (Mark) Kemball of Innisfail, and his son, Steve Havill of Calgary; four grandchildren, Liz (Mike) Ingham of Calgary, Brett Kemball of Innisfail, Ben (Kenzie) Kemball of Lethbridge, and Sarah Havill of Calgary; his two great grandsons, Theodore McCarthy and Oscar McCarthy and two great granddaughters, Mia and Andi Kemball. He is also survived by his sister, Mary (Allen) Morris and brother David Havill all of Kenora, ON. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Reta Havill: his sister, Winnifred, and his brothers, Tom and Russell as well as Richard in infancy.
