JANET CHANT-CAMPEAU November 17, 1966 ~ June 13, 2026
Janet Lee Chant-Campeau, beloved wife of Darcy, passed away in Medicine Hat on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the age of 59 years. Janet was born on November 17, 1966, in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, where she was raised and spent her early years. In 1987, Janet met the love of her life, Darcy Campeau, in Swift Current. Together they moved to Medicine Hat in 1988, where they built a loving home and raised their family. After many happy years together as common-law partners, Janet and Darcy were married on September 12, 2024. Family was Janet’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend whose love knew no bounds. Janet had a bubbly personality, a caring nature and a willingness to put others before herself. She spent many years as a dedicated homemaker before she went back to school in the early 2000’s to complete the business administration program. Janet was very proud of her work at St. John Ambulance, and her impact was so far reaching they nominated her and she received the Chair’s Commendation Award from the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta which recognized her exemplary acts, community service or meritorious deeds. She enjoyed watching reality television, reading magazines, entertaining family and friends and spending time outdoors tending to her yard. She also was her happiest relaxing on the deck or around a fire with those she loved. Janet also cherished her beloved dogs, Aries and Max.
A passionate sports fan, Janet proudly cheered for the Calgary Stampeders, the San Francisco 49ers and the Calgary Flames. She looked forward to hosting Super Bowl parties each year and enjoyed sharing the moment with family and friends. Among her most treasured memories included a special trip to Cuba with her sister, Darlene, marrying her best friend, Darcy, celebrating the marriage of her son, Nolan to Ashley, spending time with loved ones and a special weekend trip to Red Deer with her children and grandkids to enjoy a train ride together.
Along with her husband, Darcy, left to cherish Janet’s memory are her biological father, David (Mary) Convery; step-father, Michael Chant; sons, Nathan Chant and Nolan (Ashley) Campeau; beloved grandchildren, River and Willow Chant, and Keaton and Daphne Campeau; sister, Cindy Wiebe; brother, Clint Chant as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many dear friends. Janet was predeceased by her mother, Sarah Chant and her sister, Darlene Zanidean.
