MARTHALLER, Aubrey
Posted: July 4th, 2026 MARTHALLER It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Aubrey Bernard Marthaller, who passed away peacefully at Piccadilly Care at the age of 96.
Aubrey was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, to John and Connie Marthaller. He joined the Air Cadets as a young teenager and eventually received two scholarships and earned his small aircraft pilot’s license.
After working at Niagara Finance in Prince George, he met and married the love of his life, Reta (née Johnson). In 1967, he and his family moved to Salmon Arm, where he worked as an accountant at Mica Dam, BC Hydro in Revelstoke, and in the Northwest Territories.
Aubrey was deeply interested in genealogy and, long before Ancestry.com, wrote hundreds of letters to family members in Canada, the United States, Ukraine, Russia, Crimea, and Germany, to name a few. After years of dedicated research, he traced his family lineage back to the year 1547. He was awarded the Joseph Height Award for Literature for the genealogy book he wrote.
Aubrey was predeceased by his parents, Connie and John; his sister, Marie; and his beloved wife, Reta.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Lola Lewis (Kevin) of West Kelowna; his beloved cousin, Dianne Langevin of Kamloops; as well as many friends and relatives.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the management and staff of Piccadilly Place, to caregiver Sandy Jensen, who went above and beyond with her compassionate care, and to Bower’s Funeral Service for their kindness and support.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 8, at 11:00 a.m.
