JOHN DOYLE 1937 ~ 2026 John Enoch Doyle of Lethbridge, Alberta, was born on February 19, 1937, in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, to Jack and Eleanore Doyle, and passed away peacefully in the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on Tuesday, July 7th due to complications from a serious fall.
John was a loving and caring husband to his wife Joyce of 64 years, father of son Patrick (Trish), daughter Shannon, (Wayne) Mason, and grandfather to Ashton (Tamara) Mason, all of Whitehorse, Yukon.
John was predeceased by his siblings: Patricia, Russell, and Julianne. He leaves behind his brothers Ed and Larry, as well numerous nephews, great-nephews, nieces, great-nieces, and many friends throughout the world.
John’s career began as a Saskatchewan Smokejumper in 1955. Later he moved onto Yukon Forest service as a Ranger and Yukon’s Head of Fire Control. He did five years with the Northern gas pipeline, returning back to Northern Affairs as Senior Advisor to the Director General until his retirement in 1991.
John was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. Hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and skidooing were an integral part of family life. John was accomplished in many sports including curling, hockey, fastball, golf, tennis, badminton, and finally pickleball, which he began at 79 years of age.
After retiring, he and Joyce travelled for 22 years, doing numerous cruises. They spent seven winters in Australia and many winters and summers in Florida, Texas, Arizona, Alaska, and the Yukon before settling in Lethbridge, Alberta, in 2013.
At John’s request, there will be no formal funeral service.
