JORDAN BURNS 1986 ~ 2026

Jordan Michael Burns of Medicine Hat, beloved son of Gary and June Burns, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the age of 39 years.  Besides his loving parents, Jordan is survived by his loving friend, Krysta Vandermeulen; his sister, Rachel Burns (Scott Cowan) and their children, Hayden, Ella and Avery; his brother, Aaron (Lara) Burns and their children Daisy and Ollie; his grandmother, Verna Dunwald; his five aunts and uncles, Brenda (Jim) Kobley, Randy Burns (Brenda Bennett), Sandy Brookes (Len Koivisto), Sharon Richards and Barry Brookes and their families, and his nine cousins, Brandon Kobley, Nathan Kobley, Danielle Kobley, Jeremy Burns, Nikki Lee, Daniel Burns, Jolyn Reynolds, Jared Brookes and Brady Brookes and their families.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Ross Dunwald, Yvonne (Glen) Newman and Ray (Rhoda) Burns.

Growing up Jordan was active in soccer, archery, golf, snow skiing and water skiing, and he was accomplished in martial arts.  He enjoyed family card games and the occasional chess match with his dad.  He also enjoyed Dungeons and Dragons with his buddies, trips to Comic-Con and had amassed a massive, well organized, comic book collection.  Jordan worked at a number of places over the years, most notably with the City of Medicine Hat Environmental Dept. and Kurts Iron Works.  In addition, during the winters he managed the family business, Southview Auto Spa, while his mom and dad were wintering in Arizona.  When Jordan moved into his townhouse, he decided he needed some companionship and thought it would be a good idea to adopt 2 cats.  As was his nature, he picked older, less likely to be adopted cats, and named them Asher and Wilson.  They were both well fed, so Jordan recently put them on a diet.  Last year, Jordan voluntarily adopted Leo Bear, his niece, Daisy’s cat.  So that made cat number 3.  Jordan loved to grow plants and herbs in his small garden, normally pretty successfully, but his favorite flower, the Cosmo, was rather an annoyance and would never grow.

Six years ago, Jordan met Krysta and they started sharing their lives together.  She has played a very important part in assisting us through our loss and we thank her.  During the last few years, Jordan battled periods of anxiety and depression that were extraordinarily debilitating.  This illness took a tole on his life, and it caused him to withdraw from personal relationships.  Through this time, Krysta remained a steadfast support for him.  Jordan always said that the world would be a better place if people just hugged each other more often.  Great advice for us all.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend officiating.  The service will be live streamed.  Those who wish to attend virtually, please visit Jordans obituary page on our website for the link.  A private interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.  Flowers are gratefully declined.  Those who wish to remember Jordan with a donation may do so to the Canadian Mental Health Association (https://alberta.cmha.ca/donate/).  To leave a message of condolence you may visit www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
