TOTH It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandma and great grandma Verna Toth on July 18, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on September 7, 1932, Verna lived a life defined by service, sacrifice, and enduring love for her family. She is fondly remembered and will be dearly missed by her children: (Carmen) Toth, Jeanette (Ray) Viola, Jolayne (Barry) Banack, Wayne (Susan) Toth, Dennis (Cindy) Toth, and Terry (Debbie) Toth. Her legacy also lives on through her 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Verna was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Toth; her son, Jim Toth; her parents, Howard and Vi Prosser; and her sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Frank Gaspar.
Verna found great joy in family gatherings, attending her grandchildren’s activities, researching family history, reading, knitting, and gardening. Verna encouraged everyone to stay positive, keep moving forward and persevere when things get tough. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served dedicatedly in many callings. Notably, she served as a Temple Worker and, alongside her husband, presiding over the Hungary Budapest Mission in 1998.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Legacy Lodge for their kindness and care during Verna’s time at the lodge and especially those who assisted with her palliative care.
A Funeral Service will be held for Verna at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Forestry Avenue Chapel, 4105 Forestry Ave S, Lethbridge.
