NOORDEGRAAF, Marinus “Rein”
Posted: July 22nd, 2026 MARINUS “RIEN” NOORDEGRAAF 1968 ~ 2026 “My times are in Thy hands” Psalm 31:15 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marinus “Rien” Noordegraaf on July 20, 2026, at the age of 57.
Rien was born on October 22, 1968, in Ens, the Netherlands. He immigrated to Canada together with his parents on March 3, 1977.
Rien and Jody were married on July 19, 1991, and were able to commemorate 35 years of marriage a day before his passing.
Rien is survived by his beloved wife Jody; their children KariAnn (Henry) Van Huigenbos and their children (Lexus and Trayson), Brayden, Marissa, Steven, Mikayla, and Travis; and Darcy (Shalynn) Noordegraaf and their boys Peter, Luke, Kody, and Ryan. Tacey (Brendan) Kreft and their children Nate and Madison. Susan (Eric) Arnoldussen and their boys Kolton and Karter; and Rien and Jody’s youngest son, Cory. Rien is also survived by his parents, Kees and Ans Noordegraaf, and his in-laws, Hank and Margaret deKok. His brothers and sisters are Marjo (Tony) Van Herk, George Noordegraaf, Janet (Darwin) Babb, Tony (Emmy) Noordegraaf, Annemarie (Brian) den Hertog, Ed (Cara) Noordegraaf, and Sarah (Phil) Scheurkogel. Rien is also survived by Jody’s sisters, Gwen (Ted) Van de Lagemaat and Kim (Evert) Vanee, and many nieces and nephews.
“Papa Rien” will be sorely missed by his “Fire Family” of the FMFD, where he served as a volunteer fire fighter for 18 years with all the love of his heart.
Rien grew up on a farm south of Fort Macleod. After graduation, he worked at Bouvry Exports for a few years, then worked at Macleod Feedmill for 19 years before moving on to Forma Steele. In April 2017, he started working his dream job on the farm with his father-in-law, where he worked until he was no longer able to.
We will never forget all those who helped during Rien’s short fight with cancer.
Condolences will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Fort Macleod NRC Church.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Fort Macleod NRC Church, with Reverend H. D. den Hollander officiating. A Graveside Service will follow in the Union Cemetery – Fort Macleod.
