It is with great sadness that the family of Kristen Tanya Michelle Resener announce her passing on July 14, 2026, at the age of 46 years years.
Born on November 4, 1979, Kristen was born and raised in Medicine Hat where she spent her life surrounded by the people, places and community she loved.
Kristen was a devoted mother, cherished daughter, beloved sister, treasured aunt and a loyal friend. Above all else, she was the proud mother of her son, Nathaniel, who was the greatest love and joy of her life. Her love for him was unconditional and she carried him in her heart every single day.
Kristen is lovingly remembered by her mother, Tanya Hayes; father Wayne (Loana) Resener; son, Nathaniel MacArthur; sister, Brandy (Scott) Pura; brother, Tyler (Tanis) Resener; special friend, Jayson Borthwick as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing her.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Leonard Hayes, Donna Chessman, Raymond Resener and Tilley Resener and by her uncle, John Hayes.
If you knew Kristen, you knew she was the person you could always call. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, heard and cared for. She was a true “mother hen”- always checking in, offering advice, lending a hand or simply listening without judgment. She found purpose in helping others, often placing the needs of those she loved before her own.
Kristen found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved going on road trips, admiring old buildings and imagining the stories they held, spending time playing board games with family and friends and shopping – whether it was for something she needed or simply enjoying the outing…for hours on end. She adored animals, especially her beloved cat Skibble, who was a constant companion.
She had a deep appreciation for nature’s beauty. Her gardens and houseplants flourished under her care, reflecting the patience, gentleness and nurturing spirit she gave so freely to everyone around her. Kristen also had a contagious laugh, loved to dance and found joy in making others smile.
Life brought Kristen many challenges, yet she met them with remarkable resilience and courage. Through every season, she continued to love deeply, care fiercely and hope for brighter days. Those who knew her best will remember not only the struggles she faced, but the incredible kindness, compassion, strength, and generosity that defined who she was.
Kristen leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, quiet acts of kindness, and countless memories that will be treasured forever. Though our hearts are broken by her loss, we take comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and forever in our hearts.
