NANCY GAYLE KEENAN (nee WOLFE) August 31, 1947 – July 27, 2026 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Gayle Keenan (nee Wolfe), who passed away on July 27, 2026, in Pincher Creek, Alberta, at the age of 78.
Nancy is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dale Keenan; her daughter, Heather Smith; her son, Brent Smith and daughter-in-law, Ruth; her granddaughters, Stacia and Jocelyn; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Wolfe; her niece, Katie Junck (Wolfe); her nephew, Sheldon Wolfe; and her stepchildren and their families, Cindy Guthrie, Kent and Ronda Keenan, Kevin and Jill Keenan, and Koralee and Dustin Boucher. She will also be deeply missed by her extended family, dear friends, and all those whose lives were brighter because she was in them.
Nancy was predeceased by her brother, Grant Wolfe, and her parents, Bill and Helen Wolfe.
Born on August 31, 1947, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Nancy enjoyed a wonderful childhood on the family farm in Champion, Alberta, where she made lifelong friendships that remained an important part of her life until the very end. She later attended the Galt School of Nursing in Lethbridge and spent many years as a nurse, caring for others with kindness, compassion, and dedication.
Nancy had an infectious laugh and a gift for making people smile. She was known for the look on her face that often said exactly what she was thinking. If she gave you one of her famous eye rolls, it was usually followed by a perfectly timed sarcastic comment that left everyone laughing. It was simply Nancy, and those who loved her wouldn’t have wanted her any other way.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed curling and bowling. She loved playing cards, especially the countless games of crib she shared with her beloved husband, Dale. She also enjoyed golfing with friends, where the laughter was more important than the score. A lifelong animal lover, Nancy grew up with cats and dogs and always shared her home with much-adored pets until taking up residence at Vista Village.
She treasured the annual summer vacations she shared with her daughter, Heather. She also loved spending time with her son, Brent, and his wife, Ruth, and cherished watching her granddaughters, Stacia and Jocelyn, grow into the wonderful young women she was so proud of. Whether it was a family gathering, a visit, or simply sharing a laugh, those moments meant the world to her.
Nancy leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and warmth. She had a remarkable way of making ordinary moments memorable. She will be missed beyond words but remembered every time someone shares a laugh, rolls their eyes at the perfect moment, or tells a story that begins with, “Remember when Nancy…”
Her family would like to thank the staff at Vista Village and the Pincher Creek Hospital for the wonderful care and kindness she received.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honour Nancy’s memory to make a donation to any cancer or animal charity of their choice.
