THOMAS (TOM) WHEELER August 24, 1941 ~ July 25, 2026 Tom passed away Saturday, July 25 from life threatening injuries sustained from a tragic fall.
Left to cherish their memories of Tom are his sons: Kyle Wheeler, his children: Kaela (Calum), great grandchildren, Kai, Cora, and Holly; Scot Wheeler, his children: Ayana, Joshua (Melissa), Andrew; sister Marilyn Gillies, niece Tobi Kasun (Myles); as well as several cousins.
Upon leaving high school Tom was seeking employment and was hired by Lethbridge Industries where he began apprenticing as a machinist. He perservered and obtained a Journeyman Machinist Ticket.
Tom later graduated with a BS degree in social welfare program at The U of C and was later employed with Worker’s Compensation.
Tom was always ambitious accomplishing many endeavours on his own. He was a successful business owner, selling second hand sailing equipment, later opening Orion Ecological Services, distilling water and distributing bottled water throughout Calgary.
Tom loved dancing, golfing and joining his many running, (walking) mates the Hash Hound Harriers, which he was involved with for many years.
He was an active cyclist and also ran and finished The Victoria Marathon in 1995.
He also seemed to like moving as he had many residences over the years in Alberta and British Columbia, finally settling back to Calgary where he happily reacquainted with many friends.
Tom will be missed by many friends, his family and is now forever at peace.
