1944 ~ IVAN OULOVSKY ~ 2026
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Ivan Oulovsky on July 30, 2026, at the age of 82 years. Ivan is survived by his beloved wife, Ana; children, Elizabeth, Joseph (Kirsty), and Jennifer; 11 grandchildren; and siblings, Josip Oulovsky and Emilija Tepsic. He was predeceased by his parents, Josip and Julija, and brother, Steve. Born on April 24, 1944, in Sveti Ivan Žabno, Croatia, Ivan was a dedicated third-generation stone cutter who devoted his life to the trade he loved. His passion for stonework never faded; even in his later years, he wished he could continue the work that brought him such fulfillment. A gifted stone sculptor, Ivan was recognized for his exceptional skill and artistry, particularly his mastery of Carrara marble including his most treasured work, a life-sized portrait bust of his cherished wife a remarkable testament to both his craftsmanship and his enduring love for his wife. Ivan’s Christian-Jewish faith was an important part of his life. Prayer and family were at the centre of his daily routine, and he lived with humility, kindness, and devotion to the people he loved. He will be remembered as a hardworking man of strong character, whose greatest joys came from his family, his faith, and his work. One of Ana’s favourite memories was meeting Ivan shortly after arriving in Canada from Argentina in 1970. Ivan had already lived in Canada since 1967 and was friends with Ana’s brother Peter. After meeting Ana, Ivan found reasons to visit his friend more often to see her. Although Ana spoke only Spanish, and they didn’t share the same language, they understood each other in ways beyond words. Ivan and Ana were drawn to each other. Ana thought Ivan looked like a movie star, and he was equally captivated by her. Their connection blossomed into a lifelong love story lasting 54 years of happy memories, overcoming challenges, and supporting each other through life’s ups and downs. Their love and commitment remained unwavering until Ivan’s final breath. Ivan will be deeply missed by his wife, children and grandchildren, family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, faith, dedication, and craftsmanship will continue to live on through the many lives he touched and through his love for Yeshua.
