1930 ~ 2026
It is with heartfelt sadness and gratitude for a life well lived that we share the passing of Adriana Van Dyk, beloved wife of the late Gerard (Red) Van Dyk, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the age of 96 years.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Mary Rose, Elfriede (Don) Hoose and Adriana (Jim Mackay); 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard (2004); her daughter, Jan Owen (2021); her son, Jerry (2023); her son-in-law, Alan Rose (1998); her parents, Hermanus and Elfriede Ursinus; her brothers, Wim, Arie and Herman, and her sister, Charlotte. Adriana was born on January 20, 1930, in Elst Utrecht, Holland. On June 26, 1952, she married Gerard Van Dyk in Elst, and they shared 52 years together. In March of 1953, they immigrated to Canada, settling in Redcliff in June 1954. It was here that they raised five children and family was their pride and joy. Family gatherings and holidays were Adriana’s favorite times. She loved doing puzzles, playing cards and games, especially “Bump” with her special red marbles. Adriana always had a stash of cookies for the grandkids. She took pride in her yard and her flowers. No one could garden quite like she could and she continued to do so until the age of 94. In February 2024, she moved to the River Ridge Seniors Village where she soon discovered a whole new world of music, activities and socializing, and she loved it all. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and heartfelt thank you to all the staff at River Ridge for their kindness and care shown to their mom and for supporting their family.
As per Adriana’s wishes, a private family service and gathering will be held to honor her. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Adriana with a donation, may do so to the charity of your choice. To leave a message of condolence you may visit www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
