VANCE SHERRY ANN VANCE, beloved wife of the late DeMonte Vance, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, at the age of 76. She was born on Oct. 8, 1949, in Raymond, Alberta, Canada, to Allan Jensen and Jeannine Wilde.
After graduating from Raymond High School, Sherry attended BYU, where she began studying nursing. It was during her time at BYU that a simple request changed the course of her life: she asked DeMonte for a ride home at Christmastime. From that time on, the two were nearly inseparable. Sherry went on to graduate from BYU and began her nursing career. After returning to Canada, she worked as a nurse in many different locations, excelling in her profession while fulfilling her desire to care for and help others.
In September 1968, Sherry married her sweetheart, DeMonte, in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. They were blessed with four children – Todd, Troy (Lisa), Robyn (Troy Dowers), and Kristin (Micah Yablonovsky), and spent most of their years raising their family in Cardston. In 1997, DeMonte and Sherry returned to their hometown of Raymond, where they fulfilled a longtime dream of building their home on the Vance family land. It was a special place where they returned to their roots, surrounded by family, friends, memories, and land that held a special place in their family’s history.
Whether sewing, cross-stitching, reading, playing the piano, or journaling, Sherry was always developing her talents, which she used to bless the lives of many. She was organized, detail-oriented, and meticulous in keeping her records. She had a special gift for preserving the little details of life, leaving behind treasured memories and a beautiful record of the people and experiences she loved.
Sherry is survived by her four children; four of her five siblings, Maxine, Mark, Scott, and Kim; 10 grandchildren, Marissa (Sam), Miles (Tyler), Justin (Karsyn), Blake (Elena), Abby, Taylor, Aubrey, Madison, Dylan, and Jenna; and three great-grandchildren, Caiden, Jaxen, and Knox.
Sherry had a deep love for the gospel of Jesus Christ. She understood the power of His Atonement, trusted in God’s plan for her life, and cherished the eternal nature of families. Her faith was steady, her heart was kind, and her family was always at the center of her life. As a wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and friend, she gave so much of herself to others. She lived her testimony through the way she served, cared for those around her, and loved so generously. Her faith and example touched many lives and will continue to bless her family for generations to come.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Raymond Stake Center, 2 North, 200 West, Raymond, Alberta.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Temple Hill Cemetery.
