JUSTINA “JO” ULMER 1938 ~ 2026 Justina “Jo” Julia Ulmer of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Wayne Ulmer, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, September 7th, 2026.
Jo was predeceased by the love of her life, Wayne, her mom and dad Lloyd and Julia Lunseth, her sisters Audrey and Harlene Lunseth and her grandma, Justine Domso (nee Filchak).
Jo is survived by her daughters, Tracey (Oral) Opper of Calgary and Tara (Wes) Bouw of Cochrane; her brothers and their families, Les (Laurie) Lunseth, Lee (Cailin) Lunseth, Landon (Kira) Lunseth, Evan and Mathias and Larry (Kerry McColm) Lunseth, Adam (Beth) Lunseth, Audrey and Charlie, Erin (Chris) Pichurski, Eddie and Willow-Anne.
Mom was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on September 11th, 1938, and grew up in the Bow Island area. Mom attended Olds College and studied home economics. Mom met the love of her life, Wayne, in Bow Island at a dance and it was love at first sight. They got engaged on Mom’s birthday, September 11, 1964, and were married on January 15th, 1965. Mom and Dad welcomed their first daughter, Tracey, later that same year, and their second daughter, Tara, 4 years later. Mom and Dad raised their daughters and mom’s brothers, Les and Larry, in Lethbridge.
Mom was such a wonderful woman who was full of grace, strength, unconditional love and kindness and was an “adopted” Mom by so many. She welcomed everyone with a big, beautiful smile and open arms for a big Mom hug.
Over the years, Mom enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, baking, golfing, crafting, and spending precious time with her many friends for tea and treats. She attended exercise classes regularly and was also a member of the Parkinson’s local chapter. She volunteered her time for charity events whenever needed and was more than happy to share her baking with friends, neighbours and exercise group.
Mom’s faith, family and friends were her world, and she was always there for whoever needed her the most at the time.
Mom was truly one of a kind, an angel on earth and Mom will be missed by so many.
