PEAKE, Sydney John “Jack”

PEAKE It is with sadness that the family of SYDNEY JOHN “JACK” PEAKE announces his peaceful passing at the Chinook Regional Hospital on September 9th at the age of 94.
Dad was a north sider born on January 7, 1932, to Sydney Fred and Phyllis Peake. After losing his mother at a young age, he and his brother Ernie were raised by their grandparents. Dad began work at 16 and worked numerous jobs as an electrician. In 1952, he began working with the City of Lethbridge Electrical Department. He worked there for 35 years retiring in 1987.
Dad was a devoted family man. He shared 58 years with the love of his life, his late wife Laura Catherine. He was a dependable father and is survived by his sons Brad (Kelly), Rod (Sharon), Jack (Mary) and daughter Laura Marie. He was a proud Papa to 7 grandchildren Kyle (Sandra), Melissa (Dave), Brett (Paige), Kevin, Blake (Bailey), Ty and Kyra (Matt) and 9 great grandchildren. He will also be fondly remembered by his brother Ernie and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad and Mom treasured over 50 years of family holidays at Lee Lake. He loved sharing his knowledge of nature with his children and grandchildren and leaves them with countless memories of time spent together. Dad enjoyed animals especially horses, homing pigeons and there was always a family dog.
Dad was a life member of the Nord-Bridge Senior Association and belonged to the Miners’ Library. One particularly fond memory was his Christmas tradition of hitching his horse Nellie to a sleigh, picking up Santa and helping deliver presents to children at the Christmas party.
Dad lived a quiet, hardworking life centered around his family, his career and his lifelong love of nature. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
