HELEN DALLARD 1934 ~ 2026
Helen LaVerne Dallard, beloved wife of the late Donald Dallard, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the age of 92 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, her two children, Darcy (Darlene) Dallard and Dianne (Mark) Gilchrist; her eight grandchildren, Dalyce Schofield, Jamie Wlock, Jeremy Mann, Devon Dallard, Joalee Zanidean, Jesse Dallard, Ian Gilchrist, and Cameron Gilchrist; her seven great grandchildren, Hailey Schofield, Ava Schofield, Kylan Wlock, Klara Wlock, Donavon Dallard, Jasper Zanidean, and Valerie Zanidean. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Dallard, her daughter, Debra Dallard, and her parents, Reider and Ragna Hanson. Helen was born on September 8, 1934, to Reider and Ragna Hanson in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan. She was the second eldest, out of a family of five children. Helen and her best friend at the time, Margaret Zimmer, became nurses aides in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan, and when they heard about jobs that were available in Prelate, Saskatchewan, they made their way there and began their nursing careers for real. It was in Prelate, that Helen met the love of her life and true soul mate, Donald Dallard. Helen and Donald got married on October 20, 1954, and had three children. She lived an active life, full of dancing, bowling, baking, and socializing with many great friends that she and Don had made through the years. Helen was known for her baking and she loved to share it with everyone. She was very fortunate in her working years to have found a career that she loved, and she took great pride in caring for her patients. When retirement came, Helen continued to be active with many pastimes, but bingo was one of her favourites. Helen loved watching her favourite sports teams, the Blue Jays, Edmonton Oilers, and Calgary Flames. She continued to make terrific and loyal friends into her later years, and enjoyed having her regular night cap of scotch with them. Helen always ended their evening visits by saying “love ya, but now I have to leave ya”. Helen would share stories of when her grandmother would say, “isn’t life fun!” it’s a message to all of us, to look on the bright side of things. Throughout life’s ups and downs, Helen surrounded herself with friends and family, to help make her life fun, and there is no doubt she gave back just as much to enrich all of their lives as well. A private family service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment take place in the HILLSIDE CEMETERY.
