It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Greta Elizabeth Tustin (nee Lowe).
Greta passed away Wednesday, September 16th with her loving daughter by her side and much love from her entire family. Greta is now reunited with her late husband of 63 years, Jim, who was incredibly missed, especially these last 2 months. Greta is survived by her daughter, Joelle (Duncan) McCubbin and her grandchildren, Rebecca McCubbin, Shannon (Ben) Noble, Alysha (Mathew) Kress and Tianna (Trent) Philipps. She is also survived by her siblings, Gilbert (Leona) Lowe, Anne Cairns, Bernard (Leslie) Lowe, Barry (Rose) Lowe, sister-in-law, Geri Lowe; Great Aunt, Connie Bryce and numerous nieces and nephews. Greta was predeceased by her parents, George Edward and Francis Lowe and her brothers, Montie and Wallace Lowe. Greta spent most of her nursing career as an operating room nurse at the Royal Alexandra and Misericordia Hospitals in Edmonton. Later in life, she took up traveling with Jim and they settled in Medicine Hat in 2000 to be closer to their four grandchildren. Greta often spoke of her “kids” which confused many as she only had one daughter, but Duncan and the four granddaughters and later their partners all became her “kids”. She was so proud of her growing family! At Greta’s request, her family and close friends will gather privately for a graveside celebration of her life. The family requests that any donations in memory of Greta please be directed to the Southern Alberta Renal Program, 666 5 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4H6.
