JUNE MARIE DAWSON, NÉE WIDDIFIELD October 27, 1961 – September 15, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of June Marie Dawson, who passed away on September 15, 2026, at the age of 64.
June was born on October 27, 1961, in Cabri, Saskatchewan. As a teenager, she moved with her parents to Medicine Hat, Alberta, where she would meet the love of her life, Bert Dawson. The two were married in 1983 and built a life together on their farmland near Seven Persons, Alberta.
After retiring from the farm in 2019, June and Bert moved closer to their daughters and settled near Bragg Creek, where they enjoyed the beauty of the mountains and trees that surrounded them.
June found her greatest joy in her family and in making her home a welcoming place for those she loved. She loved hosting meals and bringing everyone together under one roof. There was almost always fresh baking on the counter, and her home was a reflection of the many things she loved antiques, vinyl records, puzzles, books, knitting dishcloths, and crafts spread across the table. She was always rearranging furniture, cupboards and drawers to keep everyone sharp.
She took great pride in her flowers and vegetable garden and loved watching the wildlife that visited their property. She enjoyed kayaking at Forget-Me-Not Pond, camping among the trees, and visiting the zoo with her grandchildren. June and Bert also enjoyed motorbike trips together, with some of their favourite day trips taking them down Highway 40.
June will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Bert Dawson; her daughters, Adrienne (Brad) Dixon and their daughter, Finley, and Ashley (Scott) and their children, Reina and Dalton; her brother, Terry Widdifield and family; her sister Evelyn Colpitts and family; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Marion Widdifield; and her brothers, Perry (Ellen) Widdifield and Alec Widdifield.
June’s love was found in the everyday moments – her kindness, warmth and the welcoming home she created will remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
Celebration of Life to be held on March 13th, 2027, at the Community Hall in Seven Persons. Details to follow.
