Linda Haynes
1944 – 2026
It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Carol Haynes (nee Turner) announce her passing in Taber on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at the age of 82 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Ron Haynes; eldest son Gregory Ronald Haynes; parents Fred and Iona Turner and brother James Turner.
Linda arrived in this world on May 17, 1944, in Lethbridge. Born to a sugar factory family, she grew up as the much cherished only daughter and middle child between her brothers James and Monte. She excelled academically, was crowned a Taber Rodeo Princess, and nurtured a deep and lifelong love for movies, reading, Elvis Presley and eventually Kevin Costner.
Then one day in high school, Linda said yes to a date with Ron Haynes. She didn’t know that it would be the biggest yes of her life. Didn’t know that she was saying yes to her future husband and life partner, yes to a life filled with days at the horse track, quiet nights on the farm, winters in Arizona and summers in Whitefish. She said yes to building a big, beautiful life with forty years of love and laughter with her best friend and her beloved family, and she lived that life to the absolute fullest.
Linda was unrivalled in her endless devotion to her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was deeply committed to them and took great joy in celebrating all the moments of their lives. Sometimes it was from the stands, cheering enthusiastically at hockey, volleyball, football and soccer games; sometimes it was on a quiet afternoon watching movies or playing cards. Linda was so much more to her family than just a mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She was a source of sage advice, a shoulder to cry on, a hug when you needed it most, a wink across the table, a hand to hold, a partner in crime and a best friend.  Linda will be so lovingly remembered and missed by her children Tammy Haynes and Ryan (Melanie) Haynes;  grandchildren Lee, Jared (Nancy), Tylin, Cheyenne (Tom), Calista (Chase) and Carson; great grandchildren Caiden, Conner, Bentley, Asher and Emmitt, and her brother Monte (Peggy) Turner.
As a lifelong resident of Taber, an active member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a career banker and then realtor, Linda touched so many lives in so many different ways and enjoyed an extensive circle of friends. With countless friends from her sorority to her church, the casino and movie nights, weekly card games and, of course, the infamous “Golden Girls”, the loss of Linda will be deeply felt. But her love, strength and the memories she created with those closest to her will remain in their hearts forever.
A private graveside service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
