TURNBULL, Elizabeth “Liz”

TURNBULL 1965 – 2026 Our beloved ELIZABETH “LIZ” MARGARET TURNBULL was beautiful on the inside and out, from her eccentric style to her passion for animals and children. Liz was a force of nature in everything she did.
She was a social worker and had her Master’s degree in Education and Learning Styles, and she cared deeply about advocating for children. She believed that all children deserved love and security and dedicated her life to that cause. Liz also authored a children’s book, The Light Inside, as a way to connect with children and bring joy to her readers.
But Liz was so much more than her career.
She was tall, gorgeous, and impossible to miss, with her huge black-and-white curly hair and her incredible sense of style. She had the most unique clothes and jewelry and somehow always managed to put things together in a way that only Liz could.
Liz had a deep love for animals and adopted many pets over the years, giving them homes, love, and a second chance. Her giant dogs Buddy and George were just a couple of them. There were countless other cats and dogs that she rescued and loved throughout her life.
Liz loved spirituality, astronomy, Halloween, and dressing up. She had a real appreciation for the unusual and the magical, and never seemed particularly interested in being like everyone else. She was completely herself.
Liz loved to travel and especially cherished the adventures she shared with friends. She loved experiencing new places, making memories, and simply enjoying life with the people she cared about. Those travels and friendships became part of the many stories she carried with her and shared so enthusiastically with everyone around her.
Liz was an animated storyteller and had a way of taking even the most ordinary experience and making it hilarious. She had such a unique take on life and never missed an opportunity to share her blunders and mishaps with the people she loved. And while Liz could do many things, cooking was not one of them. Her attempts in the kitchen were often their own kind of adventure, and she would be the first one to laugh about it. Her stories, her humour, and the way she told them were unmistakably Liz.
Above all, Liz was deeply loved. She leaves behind a loving family who will miss her tremendously, along with her wonderful partner Tony, her “Honey”, who shared so much of life with her and stood by her through her illness. The love and memories they shared will remain a part of the people who knew her for years to come.
She was beautiful, funny, eccentric, passionate, compassionate, and completely one of a kind.
Liz was magnetic. People were drawn to her, and those who met her seemed to love her almost instantly. She had a rare ability to make an impression just by being herself.
Liz loved life in her own unique way, and she left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for the extraordinary woman she was.
Liz’s family wishes to thank the many healthcare professionals who were involved in her care in both Calgary and especially in Lethbridge.
A Celebration of Liz’s Life will take place in the spring.
