Posted: October 2nd, 2026 JACOB VAN SETERS AUGUST 18, 1922 ~ SEPTEMBER 25, 2026 Jacob Van Seters passed away peacefully at the age of 104, leaving behind a remarkable life marked by faith, perseverance, hard work, and a deep love for his family.
Born in Stellendam, The Netherlands, Jacob grew up during difficult times. At the age of 16, he took over the family mill and learned early the value of responsibility and hard work. During the Second World War, he endured the hardship of concentration camps. He later survived the devastating flood of 1953, and in April, 1959 his home and mill were destroyed by fire.
In 1946, Jacob married Agnieta Korsten. Together with their young family of five children, they immigrated to Canada in September of 1959. After Agneita’s passing in 1971, Jacob married Elma Klooster in 1973. He experienced the sorrow of losing both of his beloved wives.
Yet through every hardship, Jacob continued forward with faith, courage, optimism, and determination. He enjoyed both the challenges and successes of business and life. In Canada, together with his brothers, he established Pro Motos Ltd. And later Intercontinental Truck Body.
Retirement brought new adventures. Jacob enjoyed sailing his sailboat, the Double Dutch, off the coast of Point Robers, Washington, building homes and furniture, travelling, and sharing his many talents with others.
Above all, Jacob loved the Lord He was eager to tell people how good the Lord had been to him throughout his long life. He generously shared his kindness, his talents, his stories, and most importantly, his faith.
Jacob will be lovingly remembered by his children Arie (Margaret Lubbers) Van Seters, Peter (Janey Van Dyke) Van Seters, Nellie Hiemstra, Joanne (William) Vander Heide, and Jake (Margaret Tams) Van Seters; brother Hugo; 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Jacob was predeceased by his first wife Agnieta; second wife Elma; parents Arie and Neeltje; sister Atie; brother Neil and grandson Ian.
After a long and full life, Jacob was called home to be with the Lord he loved and faithfully served.
The family is very thankful for the compassionate care he received during his last years at Manoah Manor in Langley, B.C.
