STEPHEN WILLIS
Posted: October 21st, 2026 IN LOVING MEMORY OF STEPHEN WILLIS April 3, 1953 October 16, 2026 It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Stephen Willis, who passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026, at the age of 73, in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Throughout his life, Stephen dedicated himself to sharing the teachings of Christ through his ministry with the Church of Christ.
Beyond his ministry, Stephen had a wonderful curiosity about the world and the heavens above. He had a deep love for astronomy and found joy in the beauty and mystery of the night sky. Music also held a special place in his heart, bringing him happiness throughout his life.
And while Stephen was a man of God, he certainly appreciated a little theatrical excitement. Those who knew him might remember his enjoyment of 1990s WWE wrestling because apparently even a preacher could appreciate a good body slam and a little Monday Night Raw!
Above all else, Stephen’s greatest treasures were his faith and his family.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley Willis of 53 years; his son, Daniel Willis (Ashley), and grandchildren Alana, Caleb, and Rowan; and his daughter, Jeanne Millar (Anthony), and grandchildren Isaac, Zadie, Asher, Zerrick, Eli, Zayla, and Owen.
Stephen is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Brenda Nerland (Doug) and Ann Willis Aldridge; his nieces and nephews, Brian (Miranda), Lauren (David), Ashley (Bo), Rachel (Matt), and Hannah, Mark(Katrina), Andrew(Kerri); and the many others whose lives were touched by his kindness and faith.
Stephen was predeceased by his father, Cecil Willis; his mother, Ioma Willis; and his brother, David Willis.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23 A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Chinook Village in Medicine Hat, Alberta, in the Terrace Room.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Stephen’s honour to the Medicine Hat Astronomy Club, celebrating his lifelong fascination with the stars and the heavens above.
