HEINZ, NORMA March 28, 1932 October 21, 2026
After a long and blessed life, Norma Heinz passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Cambridge Manor in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 94 years.
Norma was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, to Benvenuto and Justina Bonin. She grew up and attended school on Elm Street, near the family home. Her first job was at Medalta Stoneware, a local pottery manufacturer, where she met the love of her life, Herbert “Herb” Heinz. They married on November 4, 1950, in Medicine Hat and moved to Calgary in 1955, where they raised their three children, Don, Keith and Debbie.
A devoted mother, Norma made her home a place of warmth, comfort and care. Whether tending to skinned knees, offering reassurance after a difficult school day or caring for a sick child, she was always there. Through her love and example, she instilled lasting values of kindness and compassion.
Norma took great pride in her immaculate home, yard and garden. She loved to bake, and her raisin pies and cinnamon buns were family favourites. She and Herb also shared a love of travel. Some of their travels included visiting Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, Cuba and Hawaii. Hawaii held a special place in their hearts, and they celebrated many wedding anniversaries there, enjoying sightseeing, reading and relaxing in the sunshine.
In addition to the Medalta pottery, she was also employed by the CP Palliser Hotel and Canada Safeway.
Norma will be lovingly remembered by her son Don (Marilyn) Heinz; daughter Debbie (Paul) LeBlanc; daughter-in-law Kathy Heinz; four grandchildren, Travis (Nicky) Heinz, Alexis Heinz, Candace Heinz and Randy (Chelsea) LeBlanc; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Natalie and Blake Heinz, and Valerie and Makayla LeBlanc.
She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband Herb in 2022; her son Keith in 2014; her sisters Isabel Sept, Ruth “Bunny” Ulmer and Rose White; and her brothers Norman and Ernie Bonin.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday November 5, 2026 from 6:00 8:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Norma’s Life will be held at Foster Garden Chapel on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Medicine Hat, AB on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
Norma will be deeply missed, but her love, kindness and devotion to her family will be treasured always.
