1929 ~ BROWN ~ 2012

Posted: November 8th, 2012

It is with deepest sadness that the family of Helmi Elvia Brown, beloved wife of the late Leonard Brown, announce her passing on Tuesday, November 6th, 2012 at the age of 83 years. Helmi is survived by two sons, Harold (Jane) of Edmonton, and Dale (Alzona) of Foremost; four grandchildren, Melissa Johnson, Pamela Johnson, Jamilyn Brown and Owen Brown; two great grandchildren, Tavia and Brody; two sisters, Ellen (Frank) Lange and Eleanor Lange; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Leonard, Helmi was predeceased by her daughter, Elaine Johnson; her parents, John and Aune Matson; her brother, Leslie in infancy; her brother Oliver, sister-in-law, Margaret and their son, Kelly; and her brother-in-law, Clarence Lange. Her memory will be cherished by her loving family and friends. Helmi was born in Medicine Hat on October 17th, 1929 and was raised and educated in the Manyberries/New Home area. She met Leonard while he was in the Military and they were married on November 17th, 1951. They made their home in Foremost were they resided for 33 years when they retired to Medicine Hat in 1984. Crocheting, walking, shopping, bingo, visiting were all favorite past times for Helmi, but she truly enjoyed her flower gardens (which the deer seemed to savor as much as she did). Helmi was a gentle spirit, never getting cross, always being kind, and never having a negative thing to say to, or about anyone….she left behind a legacy of love and acceptance that is rare. She touched the lives of many in her quiet and loving ways and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Wellington and South Country Village for all the help, respect and love shown to Helmi during her time there. To honor Helmi’s memory, share a smile with those you meet today. A Private Family Service will be held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Friday, November 9, 2012 with Reverend Bob Findley officiating. Memorial gifts in Helmi’s memory may be made to the Charity of One’s Choice. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or www.gonebutnotforgotten.ca or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Helmi Brown. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATORIUM, “The Chapel in the Park”, locally owned and directed.
