Oscar Krause passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the age of 84 years, beloved husband of Laura Krause of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Merle (Viona) Krause and Wesley Krause, all of Medicine Hat; two grandchildren, Amber Krause (Phil Stark) and Brandon Krause; one brother, Herb (Minnie) Krause of Medicine Hat; his sister, Elsie Schlenker of Stettler, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Emma and Alfred Krause. Oscar was born on August 26, 1928 in Tarutino, Romania. He immigrated with his family to Canada in 1930, to a homestead at Hilda, Alberta.
Oscar married Laura Anhorn on April 22, 1951, in Hilda. They moved to Medicine Hat in 1957, to begin his career in the aviation industry, acquiring his aircraft maintenance engineer license, an aeronautical radio operators certificate, and a private pilots license. Achieving his private pilots license was his proudest accomplishment. During WWII, Oscar volunteered as an aerial civilians spotter. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving hunting and fishing, and had an interest in collecting vintage firearms, and vintage air crafts, having several planes of his own. Diverse interests in rodeo riding, ghost town hunting, rock picking and a natural curiosity about what makes things work, his adventurous spirit and natural mechanical ability was something Oscar passed down to his children and grandchildren. He was a humble man, never forgetting his roots and sense of family. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:25 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Sidney Nelson officiating. Interment fill follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
