CAHOON Lyndon

Posted: September 5th, 2012

LYNDON G. CAHOON, beloved wife of the late Edward Cahoon, passed away peacefully at St. Therese Villa on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the age of 86 years.
She was born in Sandwich, ON, June 11, 1926, daughter of Roy and Sarah (Brell) Eakett. The family moved to Calgary when she was 14. She served a mission for the LDS church in England 1950-1951. Upon her return she renewed her friendship with Edward whom she had met while in England, that friendship quickly turned to love and they were married in the Cardston Temple March 26, 1952. With their two children they lived in many places, finally returning to Leavitt where they lived for many years. Following the death of their son they moved to Grande Prairie where they resided for 17 years, finally moving again to Southern Alberta where they retired.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, her son, Kevin, her grandson, Brennon Wannop, her parents, and her brothers and sister.
Lyndon is survived by her daughter, Dawnetta and her husband Donald Wannop, their children: Dusti (Julian) Villas, Renny Wannop, Loranne (Kevin) Klima, Coridon (Kristi) Wannop, Nathan (Kathy) Wannop, Darren (Holli) Wannop, Devon (Amy Neuman) Wannop, Byron Wannop. By her great grandchildren: Shae, Ashlyn and Dantae Villas, Hayden and Kieran Wannop, Austin, Kayleigh and Mira Klima, Max and Brady Wannop, Devrey and Peyton Wannop, Leighton and Gracie Wannop, Ava and Adalyn Wannop. Also the “daughter” of Mother’s heart, Lorna (Maurice) Duchesneau, brothers-in-law, Lawrence (Carolyn) Cahoon, Edwin (Beth) Cahoon, sisters-in-law Joyce Cahoon, Amy Cahoon, and many nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends.
Lyndon was well-known for her crafts, paintings and needlework. She and Edward opened their home many times to those who needed a place to stay – from sheepshearers from Australia to a newborn whose mother had died. They found there more than a warm bed and a hot meal but a truly heartfelt welcome no matter how long they needed to stay.
The family wishes to express our thanks to the staff at St. Therese Villa for the wonderful care she has received the last three years. She loved you all.
