DR. ANTHONY “TONY” CHARLES POMAHAC, beloved husband of Hazel of 25 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Chinook Regional Hospital.
Tony was born in Frank, AB on November 4, 1928 and spent his childhood and teenage years there until moving to Edmonton to attend the University of Alberta where he studied Medicine and was honoured by being elected President of his class. Tony was very pleased to attend his 50th Class Reunion in Edmonton 2011.
Tony returned to Southern Alberta in 1961 and began his career at the Campbell Clinic South. He was Medical Director of the clinic before being instrumental in forming the Westside Campbell Clinic. Tony was an avid Montreal Canadien fan, fisherman, hunter and golfer. He played many years in the Oldtimers Hockey League with the “Bone Crushers”. His enthusiasm for hockey earned him the honour of being inducted into the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame. Tony was also an accomplished musician and many may remember him playing the clarinet or saxophone with the Big Band. Tony loved to spend time at his cabin in the mountains where he spent many happy days fishing, hunting and golfing.
Tony was well known for his sense of humour and his ability to “tell it like it is” as many of his patients would attest.
