BAKER Vernon

VERNON BAKER beloved husband of Audrey Baker of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Center in Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the age of 86 years.
Besides his loving wife, Vernon is survived by two children Don (Gwen) Baker of Coaldale and Carol Little of Lethbridge; three grandchildren, Michelle Vandenberghe of Edmonton, Scott Anonson of Edmonton and Robbie (Darrell) Moore of Lethbridge; three great grandchildren, Sorcha De Heer, Myckenzie and Cassidy Vandenberghe.
He is also survived by one brother Fred (Kit) of Vancouver, BC and brother in law George (Phyllis) King of Edmonton.
He was predeceased by one granddaughter Kally Baker, his parents John & Elenor Baker, two sisters Norah and Olive and six brothers, Jack, Ralph, Frank, Allan, Robert and Ernie.
Vern was born into a large family in Fernie, BC. just before the Depression. Through those tough times he learned the true value of family & friends which he practiced all his life. Vern loved to stay active, be it camping, fishing, skiing and for 50 years golfing, making friends all the way. Vern is one of the last remaining founding members of the Picture Butte Golf Club to which he volunteered so many hours.
65 years of marriage to his best friend made him proud, as he was of his children and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Vern’s life will be held at the PARKBRIDGE COMMUNITY ESTATES HALL, 2920-29th Avenue South on Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. with Ted Crapnell, leading the Celebration.
