CHRISTIE Hugh

Mr. Hugh Christie, wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend left his worldly burdens behind and has “Gone Fishing” on October 22, 2012 at the age of 85.
He will be greatly missed by his devoted and caring wife of 63 years, Jean. A hero to his children, Linda Christie (Brian McElgunn) & her sons Jim Scarrow (Laura Hughes), Roy Scarrow and his children Ruby Soyama and Joey Scarrow. Doug Christie (Karen), their children Kate Vogelaar (Ryan), Riley Black & Sarah Holland. Brenda Howe (David), their children Christie Howe, John Howe (Monique) and their daughter Payton; Siblings, Roy (Pat) Christie, Eric Christie, Alan (Lorene) Christie, and Pat (Barrie) Lewis, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He began his electrical career with Parsons Electric and finished as Superintendent of Electrical Services for the City of Lethbridge. He retired in 1989 and with Jean, spent many years fishing, bowling, golfing, cross country skiing and growing beautiful roses and tomatoes.
His love of all children was evident, working with the 17th Lethbridge Cubs, Scouts, Junior Forest Wardens, and 25 years as a mentor and coach to the 5 pin Youth Bowling council.
Hugh will be missed by John and Diane Lowther, Jean and Ron House, Fred and Phyl Harrison, Bill and Peggy Stanton as well as others too numerous to mention. All will miss his bright smile and cheery hello’s.
Please honour Hughie by wearing bright smiles and clothes as we celebrate his wonderful life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lethbridge Boys and Girls Club would be appreciated.
A celebration of Hugh’s life will be held at St. Augustine’s Church, 411-11 Street S. Lethbridge, Alberta on Friday October 26, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Following the service we will have a sharing of stories at the LSCO, 500-11 St. S. at 2 p.m.

    I’m so sorry I can’t attend the celebration of Uncle Hugh’s life. He was such a dear, sweet man and a great brother to my dad. I look forward to seeing him again one day. My condolences to Aunt Jean, Brenda, Doug and Linda.
