EAGLE SPEAKER Justin

Posted: October 30th, 2012

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, and cousin Justin Ross Eagle Speaker (Blood) of Stand Off, Alberta on October 22, 2012 at the tender age of 19 years.
Justin, alongside his older brother Travis, recently graduated with the Class of 2012 from Kainai High School. They were both awarded numerous academic and athletic scholarship awards. Prior to attending Kainai High School, he attended Saipoyi Elementary School and Tatsikisaapo’p Middle School. It was at this time that he found the passion and love for the game of basketball. His hard work and devotion for the game, took him to many places throughout Canada and the United States. During his high school career, he was very proud to be a part of the Kainai Warriors basketball team. He was honoured to represent the Blood Reserve at the Indigenous Games in Denver, Colorado. Together with his brother and fellow teammates, Justin brought home second place in the 2A Basketball Championships. During his career, he won several medals, plaques, and trophies. He spent countless hours outside his house perfecting and improving his skills. Justin tried hard at everything he did. He was a positive role model, not only to his siblings, but to all that he knew. Justin was always encouraging his siblings and younger peers to stay in school, never give up, and reach for their goals. He had so much love and respect for his parents. Who knew so much happiness and love can come in such a tiny package. It was rare to see Justin without a smile on his face. He had a laugh that was contagious, a humour so special, and a heart so precious. Justin was earth’s loss but heaven’s gain. He is now playing basketball in the clouds of heaven.
