August 22, 1927 – November 14, 2012
Frank Matheson, beloved husband of Patricia, passed away on November 14, 2012, with his family at his side. Frank was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1927. On June 30, 1949 he married Patricia and soon after started a family. They resided in Edmonton, Lethbridge, Calgary, Billings MT and High River for the next 63 years. Frank was a Truck Driver for most of those years, hauling people for Greyhound early in his career and freight for Kingsway, Porter and Safeway. Over his career, he received several safe driving commendations and awards. He was a true gentleman; kind, generous, intelligent and curious. He was a voracious reader; always up to date on current events. Most important though, was his Bible. Frank read his bible every day and loved to quote from it. He was a farmer, a cowboy and a tinkerer. He was humble, but proud of his roots and of his family. He was gracious, always able to engage those around him. Frank loved a good joke and told a great story. He was a dreamer and all of his dreams have now come true. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Margaret and by his brothers, Gordon and Maurice. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his children Don (Jenny), Gorde (Linda), Rod (Germaine), Bill, Franquie Parkinson (Leigh) and his grandchildren Heather, Dylan, Gordyn, Austyn, Murdoch and Taylor. The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the Nurses and staff at the High River Hospital, especially in the Emergency Department and the 3rd floor where Frank spent his last days. As well, we are truly blessed to have had Dr. Sarah Bell-Dingwall with us over the past year. She is an outstanding and compassionate Doctor who took great care of Frank. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the High River Hospital Foundation (560 9th Ave. SW, High River, AB, T1V 1B3). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 27th at 11:00 a.m. at the High River United Church with lunch to follow. Interment will follow at the Granum Cemetery at approximately 2:30 p.m. To send condolences and view Frank’s tribute page please visit www.lylereeves.com .
