September 19, 1962 – November 23, 2012
Robert Sheldon Mills passed away while on vacation in Bonaire on Friday, November 23, 2012 at the age of 50 years.
Rob was born on September 19, 1962 in North Battleford, SK to Wendell & Lynda Mills. A short time later, he was able to take on the title of “Big Brother” when his sister Deb arrived. He grew up in both Lethbridge and Pincher Creek, graduating with the Class of 1980 Matthew Halton Community School. Rob worked at Coca Cola for almost thirty years starting as a swamper, to his final position as the Calgary Service Supervisor. He was very proud that his family was a part of the Soft Drink Industry since the early 1900’s. Rob met his true soul mate September and was married in July 1998. In 1999, they were introduced to the amazing adventures of diving. This love of travel and diving took Rob & September all over the world. Some of the most exciting places they visited were the Red Sea, Egypt, Cuba, Turks & Caicos, Belize, Costa Rica, Cocos Island, Paris, France, Cayman Island, Jamaica, New York City, and Vancouver Island. Rob & September‘s dive group have the distinction of being the first ever night divers in Antarctica, March 2012. September and family invite you to visit the “Rob Mills Memories” page on Facebook so you can share your favorite memories of Rob.
Rob is survived by his soul mate September and his furry boys Teddy and Hudson; his girls; Katelynn and Ashley from his first marriage. He also leaves behind, his mother Lynda Enns; his father Wendell (Janet) Mills; sister Deb (Mark) Ambrosi and Kyle, Kevin, Jordan and Jodi; step-brother Derek (Maria) and Shailyn, Kayla; father and mother-in-law Larry & Judy Swerid; brother-in-law Darren (Julia) Swerid; his God parents; Joy & Myron Kirik, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from both families. He will be sorely missed by his Diving Community friends, his friends from SCA, Train Club Friends, and all his friends and colleagues from Coca Cola. Rob was predeceased by his beloved grandfathers; William Mills and Elliott Coates; grandmothers Doris Mills and Lillian Coates; step-father Peter Enns; and uncle Ray Coates. We also wanted to mention Rob & September’s much loved Grandparents Lillian & Charles Gibbens.
