WOOLFORD Darleen

Posted: December 6th, 2012

Born December 23rd, 1938 in Cardston, Alberta
Following a brave battle with cancer, Darleen passed away peacefully at Lee Crest Manor on December 1st, 2012 with her boys at her side.
Darleen was a natural mother to 5 Kunz boys: Marty (Lucille), Clayton, Todd (Francis), Darren (Cindy), & Doran (Darla), and an adopted mother to Charlie (Hazel) Woolford and Wendy (Butch) Egeland. She is also survived by her twin sister Colleen Kunz. Darleen was predeceased by her husband, Hank (Henry) Woolford and brother Frank Benton. Her motherly love was not limited to direct family as she mothered all those who she met, from infants to the most elderly. Darleen will be remembered as a patient, loving, caring and gentle mentor to all whom had the pleasure of enjoying life with her. Among her numerous accomplishments include: a Life Member of the Royal Purple of Canada, gardening awards, Air Canada Heart of Gold Award, Cardston Citizen of the Year (1996), Alberta Centennial Medal (2005), and the Canadian Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). Her service to community is only surpassed by the size of her heart and compassion for her fellow man.
A Celebration of her amazing life will be held at the South Hill Chapel, Cardston, Alberta on Thursday, December 6th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Good Samaritan Society of Cardston in recognition of the wonderful care and dedicated compassion they bestowed upon Darleen in her final months.

  1. Debbie Zuback says:

    Dear Families of Darlene,
I was so surprised when I saw that Darlene had passed away, I had no idea that she was losing her battle. Darlene was one of my most favorite people in the whole world and if I had known before now I would certainly have come to Cardston and paid my respects and attented her celebration of life. She was one GREAT LADY and that is for sure. I also will never forget the kindness she showed my dad when he was at the Lodge. I will never forget her nor shall we ever forget all the good and kindness she showed to all who knew her. My sympathy goes out to her families…and special hugs for Charlie and Wendy…Love You, Debbie
