MARJORIE JONES, beloved wife of the late Lloyd Jones of Wrentham, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012 surrounded by family at the Chinook Regional Hospital.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son Allan (Lynn) Jones of Wrentham, son Warren (MaryLee) Jones of Edmonton, and daughter Laura Jones of Lethbridge; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law Ken Bride of Victoria. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, her brother Gordon, infant sister Margaret and her parents Lewis and Nettie Davies.
Marge was born in Lethbridge, the second oldest of Nettie and Lewis Davies. She was raised on the family farm near Wrentham and attended school in Wrentham, completing her high school at LCI in Lethbridge. Upon graduation she attended Normal School in Calgary where she
received a teaching degree. Her first job as a teacher was at New York Hutterite colony. She married Lloyd Jones on August 19, 1946 and resided in Acme, Alberta where Lloyd was a licensed mechanic for the Ford IHC dealership. In 1948 they returned to Wrentham to take over
the Davies farm. In 1964 Marge took up teaching again in Wrentham and continued there until 1975. After Lloyd’s passing in 1985, Marge stayed on the farm where she was very active in the community, in particular the Wrentham community church, where she played the piano each Sunday until she was 85. She also taught ladies bible study, was a member of the ladies welfare circle and volunteered at the Lethbridge soup kitchen.
Marge was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She never spoke a bad word of anyone and always found something good to say about everyone. She maintained strong Christian values and believed strongly in her Lord and Saviour.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 14, 2012 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Pastor Wes Midget officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Streets Alive, 323 – 4 Street South Lethbridge, Alberta.
