March 18, 1925 – January 13, 2013
Susan passed away surrounded by family and close friends after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 87 years.
Left to mourn her loss are her loving husband, Hugh; daughters Tracy (Eddie) and Debra; sons, Del (Edna) and Dale (Joan); sister, Margaret (Joe); five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also remembered by lifelong friends Vi and Diane Collins and many others.
Susan was predeceased by her parents Madeleine and Maurits De Spiegelaere; three sisters, Elizabeth, Blanche and Mary; brother, Tony and granddaughter Christine.
Special thanks to the caring staff on 5B, Palliative Care, Chinook Regional Hospital and to Dr. Ireland and her wonderful staff.
Susan was a loving, caring wife, mom and grandma and a loyal friend. Her knitting and handcraft work were treasured by many. In her prime, Susan was one of the best curling skips in Southern Alberta. She was a wonderful partner on the dance floor. We often heard her say, “Anyone want to play a few hands of cards?” She absolutely loved camping and fishing. We will miss her dearly.
The family will celebrate the life of their Matriarch with a private gathering at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated – 317 10 St. S. Lethbridge T1J 2M7.
