POELMAN Kyndra

Posted: February 26th, 2013

Kyndra ReAnn Poelman of Fort Macleod passed away suddenly on February 19, 2013 at the age of 22 years. Besides her parents Jerry and Michelle, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Ralph and Wilma Poelman, and her maternal grandparents Reed and Marion Hirsche, her siblings Jenn (Mike Duffy), Mike (Tiffany Van Gool), and Ryan (Breanne), and her nieces and nephews, Sarah, Sasha, Hayden, Parker, and Marlee. She was predeceased by her sister Kimberly Ann in 1986.
As Kyndra grew, she became a true nature and outdoor enthusiast. She loved to bike and play with her dog Bud and they had many adventures together. Then came a passion for hockey. By the time she was in the primary grades, she could tell you every team, player and statistic. She played hockey for a few years for a rec team in Lethbridge and was one of only two girls and loved every minute of it. She also enjoyed playing ice hockey on the backyard rink and “shop” hockey with her dad, brothers and neighbors.
She was able to go to the Gulf Islands for a marine biology trip with the class from Fort Macleod and made new friends and had a great experience that she still talked about. Learning was always a real struggle for Kyndra, but she proudly graduated from ICHS in 2009. During her search for her place in the post-secondary world, she was in a farm accident and severed her left hand off in 2011. Two great doctors, Dr. Nickerson and Dr. Bowen at The Foothills Hospital in Calgary re-attached her hand, and she amazed them and all of us with her recovery, positive attitude, and perseverance over the last two years.
Children have always been her passion, and she was able to go on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic and was always surrounded by the children there. She loved her nieces and nephews more than can be imagined and was attending the Lethbridge College to upgrade her education so she could start in the Youth and Child Care program and was just into her second semester at the time of her passing.
She has touched many hearts and taught us so many things and we will miss her dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, February, 23, 2013 at the CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH OF GRANUM, located 8km East on Highway 519, Granum, AB, with Pastor Brian Kuyper, Officiating.
Those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a Children’s charity of choice.
