BROOKS Michael

Posted: April 6th, 2013

MICHAEL “MICKEY” EARL BROOKS, beloved husband of Patricia Mary, passed away after a short illness, at the age of 81 years.
He is survived by his children Michelle, Valerie (Junji) Kuno, Bruce, Tom (Colleen) and “adopted” son Ron Farrell, as well as 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Mickey was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters, his son Bill, and his great-grandson Jacob Anthony.
Mickey’s mom died soon after he was born and his older sister Grace and her husband John O’Hara and family took Dad in and raised him as one of their children on their farm near Writing-On-Stone Park. Mickey loved that farm and for many many years, it was the favourite camping holiday for all his family.
Mickey married Pat on October 12, 1951. He worked for 3 years in the Crowsnest Pass driving coal trucks then moved his family to Lethbridge. Dad & Mom bought their “dream house” where he lived until his passing. Mickey worked for the City of Lethbridge for more than 30 years and enjoyed going to work every day.
Mickey’s kindness to family and friends will always be remembered. He approached his life with enthusiasm and joy, and was happiest when his family was visiting which was a daily occurrence.

  2. Randy Vanee says:

My thoughts and sympathies are with the Brooks family on this sad day. Bill always spoke very highly of his parents. Bill spoke about his Dad’s work, and how his Dad loved listening to the engine of his truck while driving. Bill always talked to us about the things his Dad did and the things his Dad said. Bill was very proud of his Dad. And Mickey was always very kind to Bill’s friends whenever we’d drop by to see him. He was quick with a greeting, a smile. He asked us in for a visit and how we were, and he listened and spoke to us like friends should. His conversations were genuine, and he was comfortable to be around. He will be remembered as my one of my best friends Dad, a very warm and genuine person.

  3. Michelle Lovell says:

Auntie Pat, I think about you every day… Uncle Mickey was a wonderful man, I will never forget our times together… I wish there had been more. Lots of love!
