Peacefully, in hospital, on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the age of 91 years. Born in Shoal Arm, Newfoundland. Son of the late William Simms and Ethel Mae Young. Predeceased by his first wife, Ruby (nee Evans). Survived by his second wife Myrtle Goldsworthy. Loving Dad of Gaye, Jill (Dave), Carl (Valerie). Proud grandpa/papa of Norlynda Owen (Peter), David Durocher (Katie), Catherine Belanger, Stefanie Simms, and Keith Simms. He will be fondly remembered by Logan Owen. Freeman will be missed by Myrtle’s family, Guy (Corenna) Diane(Wally) and Shirley. Predeceased by infant son Teddy, brothers, Wilfred, Albert and Gilbert. Brother-in-law, Wilson Evans, Sisters-in-law, Myrtle Hillier, Mildred Robbins, Frances Noble. He will also be missed by sisters-in-law Burdetta Simms, Belle Sharpe, Margaret Foster, Nina Giles, Dorothy Foster, and all of his nieces, nephews and their families in Newfoundland and Ontario. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore Dr. and Baseline Rd.) on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm and Sunday, April 7 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday April 8 at 11:00 am, followed by a reception. Interment at Capital Memorial Gardens.
